|Pattern Description: A three piece pant for stretch fabrics. |
Pattern Sizing:Sizing is based upon the ACTUAL garment measurements (not body measurements) for me, I use a size 10
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?No. I made some significant design changes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes, Silhouette patterns has very good instructions, however I didn't read them since I have made this pant many times before and I altered it based upon my own design.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It fits! The basic pant pretty much fits straight from the envelope as long as the correct size (finish size of the garment) is chosen. Also, it is a great basic pant to modify into different designs.
Fabric Used:A polyester/lycra knit? I purchased this at Michael Levine Loft (Los Angeles) where the fabric is sold off the bolt (no fabric content information) and by the pound.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I incorporated front pockets. I included a side panel inset in the side seams which also has a pocket and I added buttoned cuffs to the hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, I would sew it again and yes I would recommend this pattern. It a nice pattern in its three piece configuration, but it is also a nice pattern to modify and alter, too.
Conclusion: I think the fabric is a bit too underweight for the design changes I made, but who knows maybe after the pants hang in the closet and I approach them with fresh eyes, I may really like them. Right now, I'm a little underwhelmed by them.
More pictures, mayhem and just garble from me is on my blog.
On a side note, I am trying to work up a tutorial on how to insert the side panel inset/pocket. Hopefully, I will be done with that soon.
