|Pattern Description: Finally the PERFECT knit dress for beginners! This dress sewing pattern for girls has a fully faced, round neckline. No need to use ribbing! The Anywhere Dress has a feminine cut, perfect for play, school or special occasions. With 4 sleeve options you can make long sleeves, elbow length sleeves, cap sleeves or a ribbed cuff below the elbow sleeve. Perfect for all seasons!|
Pattern Sizing: Pattern is sized from 12 mo- 12 years! I used size 3T but ended up taking in from the sides. Read more below.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes absolutely.
Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a very simple dress but I did read the instructions which were very helpful.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes. I love this pattern and can see myself using it again and again. Since this fits her, I plan to add more design details to make each dress/top different.
I adore the cuffed sleeves. Not only are they easier to sew, they look cute too.
Fabric Used: Left over rayon jersey from this skirt. Fabric is from Mood Fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I dislike facings in knits. So instead of using their pattern for facings, I made my own binding which is my preferred way of finishing necklines. See my tip above for instructions. I also used clear elastic on shoulder seams. After trying this on her, I noticed that it was too wide so I took it in from sides and sleeves. I also made a really deep hem so it would end above her knees.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely. I've ordered some super cute polka dot knit from Etsy to make a few more of these. I also plan to make winter versions in Ponte or other heavier knits. I like that this pattern has 4 different sleeve options.
Conclusion: I have mixed feelings about this project. While it does look cute on her, it makes her look so grown up and I am not ready for that just yet. She is only 2 and a half. I am thinking of making the shape a little more A-line so it would look more girlie and less "ladylike"
All in all a winner pattern.
