|The Pattern: The Lady Skater from Kitschy Koo, size 4|
Fabric: 2 Yards of cotton jersey with BIRDS on it. Birds, people, need I say more?
Instructions: There are two sets of instructions here: one for more experienced skaters (such as myself) and one for people who have never stepped foot on a skateboard before (also kinda like me...funny story, really. Scroll to the bottom and I'll tell you more) Anyway, the instructions were pretty basic, this was an easy make, and they were more than thorough.
What I love most: the fabric has birds on it! Some of them are even kissing...does a dress get any better than kissing birds? The dress is also really comfortable, easy to throw on, and washing machine friendly
What I would do differently next time: A different color? Shorter sleeves? Longer sleeves? Longer hem? The possibilities are endless! My roommate (who made her very first garment a Lady Skater) even pointed out that you could wear it backwards, and have a high neck with a scoop neck in the back. WHY NOT?
Alterations: I took out about 1/2 inch of the bodice in the back, serged the hem, and shortened the 3/4 sleeves to just above the elbow. I just like them better there, and I wanted this dress to transition into fall! I also hate things below the elbow, I tend to roll all my sleeves up anyway. Aaaahhh, the beauty of sewing your own clothes...
Recommended: Absolutely! This is the perfect basic pattern to transition from work to date night, and from summer to winter.
