|Pattern Description: |
This fun skirt has a shaped waistband, panels and invisible zipper on the side, and really nice deep hem band, that is longer on the sides.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were very easy to follow, with instructions for inserting an invisible zipper, if you haven't already done one. The instructions for the skirt overall are pretty easy, and I was glad for the drawings of how to attach the wide band on the bottom, since I have not done this before. But once I did, it all made sense.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked that it was simple and easy to make. I think it should be lined, and I would have liked to have had the lining pattern pieces as part of the pattern. But I will draft them for my next skirt.
I used a medium weight black linen, embroidered with a cream colored floral design I purchased from Gorgeous Fabrics. It is a comfortable weight, not too heavy, moves nicely, and doesn't seem to wrinkle like some linens i have used.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did have to change the size of the waistband, and adjust the hips. I ended up making two muslins before I got it right. But it is really one of my favorite skirts now, because it hangs so nicely, and is so well balanced.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will make this skirt again. I have another linen I want to use, and also a multi-colored wool, with a black background I am planning on making for the winter. I would really recommend this skirt.
This is such a comfortable skirt. It is a good walking skirt, with lots of room, but not voluminous! And I am not a tall person, but I didn't have to adjust the length at all. I really like this skirt!
