|My Mini Wardrobe ,this year was a result of fabric bought this summer at Fabricville. |
I new I wanted to make a pair of wide legged pants, a jacket, and a colour blocked dress with my light brown slubby ponte knit. I didn't plan on entering the contest but then since I was actually sewing a mini wardrobe anyway, I decided Why Not?
Since the colour of my fabric is very much like cafe au lait, I'm calling it just that. Here is my Cafe au Lait Mini Wardrobe.
My main piece is a jacket made using McCall's 5937McCall's 5937 . I love the waterfall effect of the collar and also that I can belt it and rearrange the collar to give me a different look.
For the palazzo pants I used SilhouettePatterns 3400vSilhouette Patterns 3400 (Three Piece Yoga Pant). I widened the legs as explained here in my pattern Review. These are so comfortable to wear and I feel so elegant when wearing them .
To wear wih these two pieces ,I used Vogue 1275Click Here and made an animal print long sleeved top using a poly/lycra and reviewed here. The colours in this poly/lycra is perfect for fall and for the jacket and pants.
My fourth garment is a colour blocked dress made up of the same light brown ponte matched with beige and cream versions of the same fabric The pattern for the dress is Butterick 5676Click Here, reviewd here. I've worn the dress alone but with the jacket ,it will let me wear it longer into the fall.

I'm already enjoying wearing these pieces and having fun matching them up with accessories I own. They fit into my retired lifestyle , I finally feel I've figured out how to dress as a retired senior after 10 years!
