A basic A-Line skirt with a 2cm swing at the side seam and a centre panel at the front and back. Pattern Sizing:
Plus size to fit my butt. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I needed to adjust the angle of the waist to hip as I made it much too extreme. Fabric Used:
Leftover pure wool, mid/royal purple. Conclusion:
Made for the 2013 Mini-Wardrobe competition. I actually made 2 versions of this skirt. This purple wool version was inspired by the A-Line skirt in Gerties Guide to Better Sewing but I am too large for those patterns. And I wanted a front centre panel. This version has a slight error in that I didn't include a centre back seam so the zip is off centre at the back.
My first time doing pintucks and I love them. These ones aren't too even as it was my first time and the panel added a degree of difficulty to the process since I had to try and line them up straight! Mostly succeeded.
The seams are finished with mock french seams that I did by hand and the hem was also hand finished.
If any beginning sewers haven't tried sewing with wool I highly encourage them to spend the money. It's beautiful, warm and lovely to work with.
