|I want to preface this by saying that this is my favorite knit top pattern of all time. I have made it multiple times for myself and for my daughter, and it has become my go-to basic T.|
It has lovely details, and it uses SO little fabric! Less than a yard remnant can make you a really sweet (pun intended ) top!
Top with sweetheart neckline, gathering at bust, neckline bands and choice of three-quarter or cap sleeve.
2 through 22. I love Jalie!
I cut a size U (8), and the fit is perfect.
To be fair, this is the 4th time I have made this top for myself, so I knew the fit would be perfect!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, except for the button embelishments I added, and adding a few inches to the 3/4" sleeves to make them full length, for fall and winter.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very. When attaching the front yoke, it looks confusing, but if you just follow the diagram and instructions, it turns out perfect.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the style of this top. The neck binding gives the option to make it in a contrasting color, which I have done in the past. The sweetheart neckline is a lovely and complimentary look, and as I mentioned before, it uses amazingly little fabric! As with all Jalie knit tops I have used, the fit is perfect, and true to the sizes listed.
A poly slinky knit, lovely bluish lilac floral.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just lengthening the sleeves and adding decorative buttons.
I would like to note that I have made this pattern without the gathering at the bust. It adds a touch more modest for certain looks, and looks much nicer on little girls as well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am 100% certain I will sew this again. I have one oddly shaped, 3/4 yard remnant in very dark blue that is destined to become this top someday. I'm also certain I will make it again for my daughter, probably at least one new one per year, possibly 2 (one short sleeved and one long sleeved version).
I recommend this pattern as highly as possible. I think it is flattering on all figures, easy to sew, and versatile with cute details.
My favorite knit pattern TnT, and one of Jalies best patterns of all time, IMO. Cannot recommend it highly enough! I get compliments on all my versions often.
