In the coming period I plan to try-out all kind of outfits for a wedding in february when I will be the mother of the groom. I was fond of and enchanted by this collar but I fear that this one is not my favourite flattering shape. I think that it is more for a tall womann with a longer neck. Time enough before February to try oher idea’s
I had to shorten the bodice and sleeve pattern-parts, and narrow my shoulders. That is normal for me. I normally have to look if my sleeves give enough room for the biceps. This time the sleeves where overall wide. The pic on the envelope shows very fitted sleeves, but my sleeve hem following the pattern was almost 40 cm.! Mine are now 30 cm. at the hem.
You find in the pattern a very to me unknown intricate way of closing the jacket with hooks and eyes, that pop out of extra seams. I wanted to try it and yes ….it is possible to make it with extra hand-sewing to fix the outside of the jacket to the facing. I did not dare to trust that this would be firm enough so I added a row of buttons for a firmer fix. On the internet I saw that someone had solved his with a zipper and on PR I saw a review with a solution with buttons and loops, and of course more solutions are possible. This hooks- and eyes-thing is intricate to make and not very handy in use.
