|This is my entry for the 2013 mini-wardrobe contest. The main idea for the wardrobe was to plug a couple of gaps in my current wardrobe. I needed a creamish top to wear under a jacket and also a pair of grey-green pants to wear to a business meeting. On the wishlist for a while was a linen jacket for summer and a woven shirt.|
A quick dive into the stash found these fabrics and I came up with this doodle sketch of the patters and possible looks.
Jacket Knipmode May 2010 #5 using a burnt orange linen. I should get a lot of wear out of this as it goes well with jeans and couple of charcoal, cream and black pants already in the wardrobe.
Woven shirt Knipmode Aug 2013 #9 using a Japanese cotton in a fun print that picks up the burnt orange/cream & green of the other pieces. Goes will with dark blue jeans, cream, brown and black pants alread in the wardrobe.
Knit top A self drafted top (an adventure in itself) in a vanilla bamboo knit. It is not quite white, but not cream either. This was a bit of a missing item that I kept meaning to make - goes with lots of things I already have and will get used alot.
Linen pants Based on shorts patttern from Patrones No 293- #27 and lengthened into pants. Loved the welt pockets on this design. This was a missing link in my wardrobe, lots of shirts to match with it and my other pants of this colour were a bit too casual for meetings.
first up, apologies for the photos - done in a hurry (ie no shoes) on a very windy day and I had to make the most of fleeting sunny gaps in the clouds. Better photos are in the review, but at least these give you some idea as to how the items go together.
Look 1 Pants and jacket
Look 2 shirt & pants
Look 3 & 4Knit top and pants - with and without the jacket. Was hoping to get better shots of the top with the fabric sitting smoothly, but the wind was adding a lot of ripples.
Look 5 & 6 Shirt (as overshirt), knit top and pants. Jacket, shirt and pants.
