|After spending many weeks trying different pants patterns, I returned to this pattern, a TNT casual pant. I paired these grey pants with a blouse from V8120, made from a wonderful flannel. I made the blouse for Thanksgiving dinner, oh...5 years ago I believe. |
Close-fitting pants have elastic waist, three construction methods for pleats in knee area, back yokes/pockets, and stitched hems.
8-24; pattern sizing true to usual Vogue standard; this pant is not a legging but is close fitting through the hips. overall fit of pants
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes. I love the knee detail! knees
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I found the instructions for the different knee pleats very odd. It seemed as though 2 of the method resulted in the same pleat. I finally decided to just make my own pleats. In my first pair I sewed the pleats down as I had used a stretch fabric. This time I left the pleats open to bend when I flexed my knees.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the knee detail, the yoke in back, and the elastic waist.
I had some grey rayon blend woven in my stash and decided to try this pattern in a non stretch woven. I had made the pants up previously in a stretch denim for horseback riding (awesome riding pants!) and now wanted a slack type pant.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I changed the pleating method to my own in order to allow them to open; did not add pockets; altered the waist substantially for hourglass.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely will-I have been making lots of pants this summer and fall in the search for a stylish, casual, comfortable pair of pants. This pattern, and the Clover, are the two which fit my body the best so far. All other patterns have had very wide legs which cannot easily be altered for my short frame. casual but stylish
This is a very nice pattern, and is pretty easy once you work out the knee pleating. Make sure to measure and mark your knee on the pattern piece so you get the pleats where they belong on YOU. The pants are cute in both knits and wovens, and look great on a variety of figures.
Great pattern and a fun style!
