|Pattern Description: |
Double-breasted jacket with back peplum, attached belt, sleeve tabs, and decorative front piece.
36-44. I scaled down to a size 34 for me.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
This looks very much like the model photo and the line drawing.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't really look much at the directions. I've sewn jackets before. This one uses a front facing and lining. I omitted the lining even though it's wool. I really like wool against my skin. I know most people will think I'm weird. I live in Alaska and the last thing I want is some chilly lining fabric on my skin. Give me wool anytime!!!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the shape of the jacket and the attached belt. I don't like that the peplum/flounce piece in the back does not line up with either the top or the bottom of the belt. Instead, it just sort of starts in the middle of the imaginary line between the two belt seams. If that makes any sense to anyone else. Things like that annoy me.
I used a double-sided wool that has been in my stash for a few years. I never knew how to use it because it is double-sided and I wanted to use both sides. Well, I didn't use both sides but I love how it turned out.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't change anything except to omit the lining. I did use a knit binding to edge the seams inside. I also use a piece of knit binding as a hem tape for the jacket. I wanted it as long as possible and didn't want to turn up the 1 5/8" hem as suggested. Instead, I sewed on the knit binding and then turned up the wool hem about 1/4" and hand sewed the knit binding in place.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I may sew this again because it's such a cute look. Next time I would do it in a solid color and topstitch all the seams.
Front where I am going coo-coo with the picture-taking, a normal front photo, how cute is the back, and see what I mean about the belt not lining up?
As always, more pictures on the blog-o-licious.
