|Pattern Description: |
Threads Collection. Misses' & Plus Size dress or top, pants, jacket, scarf and knit cardigan sewing pattern.
I'm reviewing the Cardigan here -- have already reviewed the dress.
10-18 -- I made 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy, if you are paying attention and don't sew on sleeve bands inside out...
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Nothing to dislike -- I love this. It's easy but looks so great. I think it's my favourite thing I've made!
Some kind of knit, I'm not sure what as I got it about a year ago on the sale table. I was planning to make one of those big rectangular wrap thingies out of it but realized I am way too short and those look like I'm wrapped up in a slanket or something.
So -- repurposed the fabric and I love it, the colour and the feel, and the way it hangs.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The only thing I altered was adding an inch to the sleeve length -- I measured the pattern piece and thought I'd want it a bit longer. And I have short arms, fyi. I'm glad I did. Oh, and I cut the front band on the fold so that I wouldn't have a seam at the back of my neck.
Next try I'd also take in the shoulder seam just a touch.
Also, I topstitched about 1/4 inch away from the front band, which makes it look like there's piping along the edge. I like the effect.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Definitely going to make this again. I really like it, and hey, I'm a librarian. I need a go-to cardigan pattern ;)
I love this cardi. It fits just loosely enough to throw on over things but isn't baggy. The band that goes all the way around the front and neck is a nice touch, and it lays nicely on the back of my neck and will keep off drafts ;) This is a great pattern.
