|This is one of my four garments for the Mini-Wardrobe contest. The blouse and jacket in the photo are also entered.|
A-line to straight, above knee skirt drafted to my own measurements using the Craftsy Design and sew an A-line skirt. The skirt has no waistband and is lined it has an extra lower hem attached to the lining. The skirt has on invisible side zip.
Made to my measurements.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, great fit and with extra layer, perfect length
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What I like about the pattern
It fits perfectly, it only takes 50cm of fabric – great for using expensive fabrics.
What I dislike
We went on a short break to London this summer and I went to Shaukat
and bought some Liberty Twill. I was a little disappointed with the selection, there seems to be more on line than in the shop. I have also noticed that the online price is cheaper than I paid. Any way, I love the fabric but unfortunately when they cut my 50cm, they didn't cut it straight, there was a 5cm drop off from one side to the other. This resulted in the alteration mentioned below.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made
The plan was to create a facing but I used twill tape to stabilise the waistline and lined the skirt right up to the top, not using a facing because I didn't have enough fabric.
Due to the lack of fabric, the skirt was too short. I pieced a lower skirt from 8 pieces of the remnants - fortunately, the pattern hides the seams.
Pieced lower hem
I am proud of the invisible zip, it is really invisible.
Where's the zip
I attached the lower skirt to the lining. I rather like it and may use the techique again.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I love this course and pattern this is my third version. I haven't worn it yet because it is for the Mini-wardrobe competition. I loved the unlined summer version. I definitely recommend it to others
Great skirt, brilliant course for beginners and more experienced sewers.
