This figure accenting knee-length dress will turn every woman into a muse! Shoulder pads give the slightly puffed sleeves a little support. For full on support the bodice and sleeves are all backed with double knit lining.
34-42, I made my usual 36.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looks very much like the drawing just shortened and with a straight skirt as described in the pattern modifications.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I did not read them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The seams of the dress are just great. However, it takes some time to get used to the puffy sleeves. But without them, the dress would be more boring since you can only see the details up close. The skirt of the dress is very, very slim and I had to add a lot of width as described in the pattern modification.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the dress to a length of 50 cm from the waist. The skirt is quite slim and already before the cutting I straightened it. After the first fitting I added another centimeter to the hip until the hem. Altogether, I widened the hem by 8 cm. I finished the neckline with facings and did not line the dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm not sure that I chose the right fabric for this pattern. The fabric recommendation for this pattern are elastic fabrics. The fabric I used might be too stiff and not enough elastic. l might sew it again from an elastic wool fabric which does not wrinkle that much, and actually line it.
The seaming and the sleeves turn this dress into something special. Shortened and with a widened it fits me much better. I'm really considering ditching this dress and remaking it from a more suitable fabric.
