My envelope is Size 10 through 22 (bust 32.5 to 44 inches). I used size 10 based on measurements on the pattern pieces but the the envelope would put me at a size 12 based on bust measurement. My fabric has a lot of give.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like faux wrap dress styles.
For the main dress: A really soft, warm feeling black rayon jersey that I found at the local shop Homespun in 2012. It was labeled as Roberto Cavalli Matte Jersey 98% Rayon 2% Elastene. It is slippery and was not the easiest fabric to work with. Also, I nearly ruined the entire project from the start by laying out my fabric on a carpeted floor and that stretched the fabric out. Luckily I had a bit extra to re-cut a few pieces. Other rayon knits have frequently let me down when they pill quickly, but the versions I've purchased from Homespun have lasted longer.
I lined the skirt portion with a 4-way stretch black poly-lycra from stash so I won't have to wear a slip.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1. Lined the skirt portion.
2. Went with 3/4 sleeves but left off the tabs.
3. I used the pattern binding pieces for the front bodice edges but treated the piece like ribbing instead of tucking it all inside and topstitching it down as per the pattern instructions. This provides a bit more coverage in the front.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would certainly use this pattern again.
I'll wear this dress lots! Thanks to my sweetie for taking pics after work tonight.
