|My composite entry for the 2013 Mini Wardrobe Contest: I love all 4 garments and will wear them lots. |
My original plan was one dress, one vest, one jacket, and one trench coat. The quilted silk vest was done first. The trench coat would have taken too much time, so I ditched that. After making the dress, I realized the wide sleeves would likely not work under a jacket plus I was running out of time, so I made 2 more vests (one reversible) to wear with the dress. All fabrics were from stash, so this was nice to reduce some of that.
I challenged myself with these vests by trying new techniques:
1. Machine-quilted the green silk dupioni to the silver-grey silk charmeuse with cotton quilt batting in between before cutting out the pattern pieces from the fabric.
2. Reversible garment with a front zipper.
3. Flat piping on the reversible black/white and lavender vest.

Thanks to the contest manager, participants in this contest, and others on PR, for the encouragement and inspiration to just keep sewing to get the four items sewn in one month.
