|Pattern Description: Straight cut women trousers with front slash pockets.|
Pattern Sizing:Burda sizes from 36 - 44. I sewed a 42.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, I do think the picture of the trousers in the magazine and my trousers look quite a bit alike!? Of course, I look nothing like the model in the magazine nor am I shaped like her so therein lies the difference in the trousers.
Were the instructions easy to follow?I didn't bother to read them. Sorry. I use other sewing textbooks for construction details.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I do like the front slash pockets, although they do gap open while wearing the trousers. Ugh! The trousers are a nice cut - slim but not too slim.
Fabric Used:A stretch cotton? A stretch twill? A stretch twill/cotton? I don't really know. The fabric is some sort of mystery fabric of unknown origin that has been lurking in my Fabric Closet for years.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I added approximately 1/2 to the back crotch curve to give my bum a bit more room. I also added back pockets with flaps.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes, I would sew these again. I would use some twill tape on the pocket edge to prevent the gapping - Why I didn't do it this time? I do not know. If you are able to get the pattern (either through the magazine or a download) then yes, I would recommend it. It is yet another great Burda trouser.
Conclusion: These trousers are from Burda's Spirit of the Seventies section. I hate to admit it, but I DO remember the seventies and I did wear a lot to the styles they have in this section. I really like these trousers, I recently wore them while on vacation in Northern California and they are super comfortable (in and out of the car as we went wine tasting!)
So these fulfill my October Burda Quest (one garment from each Burda for a year). I'm almost to the finish line. Yeah!
