Pattern Description: Lined dress, bias front fitted bodice with shoulder pleats. Raised waist. Skirt has right side pleats and pleated midriff on the back.
Pattern Sizing: C5 (10-18) I made size 10 but took a good 1" off each of the side seams to make it more fitted.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much, yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? For pretty much of the process yes. At first read, I came a little unstuck with the midriff pleats on the back but reading through again I finally got my head around it. I don't know whether that was me or the way they were written!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I just love the shape of this dress and high waistlines always seem to be more flattering on me. I like the front skirt pleats the most.
Nothing to dislike.
Fabric Used: I used ponte knit in black and pink. The pink was leftover from a skirt I made and the black was left over from a previous dress! I used tricot for the lining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Because this dress is made in a stretch fabric, I didnt see the need for the zip, so I didnt bother. I cut the back bodice on the fold, but put the seam in the centre back due to the pleats. I also didnt put the split in the back of the skirt. Again, I didnt think it needed it. There was only about 1 1/2" width of facing on the cowl neck, so I made this wider.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would definitely recommend this pattern as its simple but effective style. I dont think I will make another one for myself though.
