Tapered cuffed pants have front seam detail. Pattern Sizing:
Xsm-med. I cut out the medium everywhere except the crotch where I cut the small. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not exactly. Mine are looser. The pattern photo is much more fitted. I left mine loose to hide imperfections in my backside! I also omitted the cuffs and the elastic detail on the lower back of the legs. Another reviewer had mentioned that the detail didn't add much. Were the instructions easy to follow?
I liked the instructions. The pieces came together well. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the seam detail and I like the elastic waistband construction. It's not a casing, the elastic is sewn in. I was stretching and sewing and stretching and sewing and the waistband seemed to be moving all over the place but it really came out well. I also used my stretch double needle to top stitch the front leg seams and I am pleased with the result. Fabric Used:
Camel colored ponte. My mistake here was the color. I thought the ponte knit would be heavy enough but my rear lumps and bumps are too noticeable. I should have chosen a darker color fabric! Panty lines and cellulite. The picture actually looks worse here than in person though, so I might be able to wear them with a longish top. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a muslin which told me that the crotch was too low and there was too much ease in the back thigh area. I folded out some of the fabric in that area and cut the crotch higher. After cutting out my fabric and getting to the try on stage I also took in the front leg seam more to remove fullness. The front crotch was still too low. At this point all I could do was turn the waistband down more before adding the elastic. I actually turned it down more than an extra inch but It worked. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think some would just love this pattern. It's easy and the seam detail makes it a good looking pair of pants. I don't think I will make these again because I don't need another pair of knit pants. Although now that I think about it I might go get some black ponte to make the pair I was envisioning. Or maybe a stretch denim! The Pointe is certainly a joy to work with!
