I wanted to make a simple pullover dress ending in mid calf for summer (here in Australia spring has just started). I was encouraged by the other reviews for this dress. I cut a size 20 for neck and sleeves and followed the size 24 for the rest of the dress as I am a rectangle shape with a bit of fluff round the abdomen (I also usually do a 2 inch FBA). I initially filled in the side panel cut outs at the side seam so they were more or less straight up and down in order to give me more room around the waist if needed (I can no longer get away with a 'fitted'' torso without showing my bumps). I didn't do a FBA as the finished measurements indicated it would be big enough for my full bust measurement.
On trying on the dress, I removed the filled in cut outs and cut the curve as in the pattern as there was plenty of room and no cling to my fluff. It is a truly flattering dress, which skims the waist and abdomen area. Mine is a little large in the area from the bust down, but I don't mind this as it is flattering and allows air to circulate in hot weather.
I also copied a V neck from another pattern onto the dress by lining up the pattern piece with the front shoulder and cutting the V. I cut 1.5 inch strips from the fabric to finish the neck as I prefer this type of finish rather than folding the neck back and stitching.
I am making a couple more of these dresses and will post photos as soon as I figure out how to do it.
