|Pattern Description: |
Misses' short jacket, sleeveless romper/jumper and dress in two lengths.
Dress, romper and jumpsuit have scoop neckline, raised waistline, back zipper and shoulder straps.
Collarless jacket has short kimono sleeves, back darts, optional shouder pads and a front V-neck with one single button/loop closure.
I chose to make the jacket.
H(6-8-10), P(12-14-16), Y(18-20-22)
I cut and sewed in size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it looks similar to the picture on the envelope, but it has three buttons and loops, instead of one, sewn to the front, and it has the back lower edge elasticized.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were very clear and well explained.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the short kimono sleeves and the front button/loop closure.
I like how easy and simple it was to make the jacket. No modifications were done to the pattern pieces. However, I think I should have sewn it in one size smaller. I find it a little big once done.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I omitted the 1/4" molded shoulder pads.
I machine stitched all the hems and topstitched all the facings in place.
In order to help the jacket to stay in place when wearing it, I added two more buttons and loops along the front opening edges. I also elasticized the back hemline by inserting a 1" wide elastic through the 1 1/4" hem/casing.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others
The next time I sew this jacket again, I will still omit the shoulder pads and will go down a size to reduce fullness.
Because the jacket was not complicated to construct, I would recommend it, but be careful with the sizing.
Very fast and easy to make short kimono sleeve jacket.
