Classic shirt dress. I made view A: "View A is a classic straight cut, above-the-knee dress that includes chest and hip pockets and three-quarter sleeves with a flip cuff."
6-22. I cut a 10 in the shoulders and then blended to a 12 for the hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! I completely ripped off the pattern envelope, down to the haircut.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, the instructions were pretty clear. The "Lisette Tips" for the trickier bits were really helpful.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the pockets! They're not particularly functional, but they're a really cute design feature. I wish the collar and collar stand were two separate pieces. A single piece makes it easier for beginners, but the collar doesn't stand up as nicely.
Chambray from the Lisette collection at Joann's.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did a a SBA, and added 1/2" to the back armsyce and sleeve to accommodate my broad shoulders. The fabric was pooling in the middle of my back, so I took it in about 1/2" each side on the back piece, but kept the front piece seamline in the same place. I hope that makes sense.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm thinking about making View C with long sleeves for a more fitted look. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a shirt dress that has clean lines and a modern feel.
Love it! More pics and details over on my blog
