Pattern Description: (from Cake Patterns Etsy Shop) The Cabarita Knit Top has cap- or elbow-length sleeves ending in a wide banded cuff. The front roll collar is based on a 1930's knitting pattern and fits very well into a modern wardrobe. Optional v-shaped "dessert stripe" bias cut back for extra effect and a more flattering fit. The pattern includes a cutting line variation for a plain cut back neck as well as stripe guides for a designer effect!
Pattern Sizing: Full Bust 30" - 59"
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, very much.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Mostly. Even though the instructions are minimal, due to the fact that this pattern is from the Cake RiFF line geared towards the intermediate sewer, they were easy to follow and clear, except when it came to attaching the back binding to the from of the shirt. But, I figured it out without too much difficulty.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love everything about this pattern: the lovely collar, the saucy back V, the nifty stripe matching opportunities, and most of all, the grid "choose-your-own-size" side seams for a custom made perfect fit!
Fabric Used: medium weight cotton jersey for first one, lightweight for second one.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None, due to the "choose-your-own-size" grid. Oh wait, I did make the sleeves a little longer due to personal preference.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I've sewn it twice and will sew it again.
Conclusion: I love this top sooooooo much that it makes me want to abandon dresses and wear more separates. I will note that even though the pattern is penned at being reversible I do not find that to be true for me since I need to do a swayback adjustment. This adjustment is easy to do because of the grid-like nature of the pattern, but then if I want to have the V in the front and the collar in the back I will need to swap which pattern piece I do the swayback adjustment on.
