I used a mixture of Gertie's covered button tutorial and the button directions for making covered buttons. I also sharpie markered the buttons before covering them to reduce the see-through shine. More details are in this blog post.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I am partial to 60's style dresses for sure!
I also love the Peter Pan collar. It is really hard to find a Peter Pan collar on a pattern published today. This was has the scallops.
The pattern is not meant for a knit but I used a navy jersey knit that already had interfacing fused to it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Sooooo....it turned out there was too much space in this dress for my bust. The dress has French darts AND bust darts and my bust did not fill the space created. So I removed the bust darts and then extended the french darts upward to make a faux-princess seam, to take up the extra space.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might make this again as the fused fabric is already starting to pull way from the fabric and create puckering. I wasn't expecting that on fabric that I bought pre-fused. I wonder if I treated the fabric badly by washing it in the washing machine nd drying it in the dryer? So I might need to remake the dress just for that reason. The collar is really cute.
Very cute dress, and if you're a little larger than a B cup you might not need to make a FBA.
