|Pattern Description: |
Tie-front blouse sewing pattern.
36-44. I made a size 38 with no alterations. For me, it is usually a shot in the dark whether Burda is going to fit or not, but since this pattern had a lot of reviews available, I just went for it!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes pretty close. Although the line drawing doesn't give you much detail about what the neckline looks like. There is actually a (fairly) deep slit in the front and gathers along either side.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, instructions were decent.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Tie-front blouses are definitely in style and I really liked the simplicity of this particular pattern. I'm not a huge fan of how long or wide the ties are (should have changed that but was in a rush) and also not a huge fan of how the tie is attached to the neckline of the T-shirt, it is literally just sew on after you already add bias binding along the neckline. If I make this top again, which I would with alterations, I will change the construction a bit.
A wonderful rayon from Harts. I will be buying more of this fabric. It is soft, easy to work with, and doesn't wrinkle at all.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Most of these are mentioned above. My ties are too long and I already shortened them like 4".
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I would definitely sew this again, probably in a voile which will hold the tie much nicer.
Simple, nice fitting blouse and easy to whip up in a few hours! More on my blog!
