|Pattern Description: |
Misses' sleeveless dress in two lengths and double breasted jacket with princess seams, shawl collar and long sleeves.
High waisted dress has bust darts, sweetheart neckline and optional trim on lined bodice, is back zippered with back vent on straight skirt.
I made the short dress and flared it below the waist.
D(4-6-8), N(10-12-14), U(16-18-20)
I sewed the dress in size 12, with armholes and side seams above the waist being 10. I reshaped the skirt on the sides to give it more width and flare.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, the upper portion of the dress looks like the picture, but the straight skirt has been changed for an A-line skirt.
The dress has also ribbon trim and tie ends.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were clear as usual.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I find the sweetheart neckline very flattering, but I do not like the straight skirt even if there is a back vent.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The dress has an unlined bodice and the bust darts were shortened by 3/4".
The skirt has been widened on the sides and shortened at hemline before being narrow hemmed.
Tie ends were sewn to the dress at the side seams.
Neckline and armhole edges were topstitched.
For prettyness, ribbon trim was hand sewn along the hemline and neck edges.
Comparing to the original pattern measurements, the dress is 18" wider and 2" shorter at hemline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others
I have already sewn this dress again and I would recommend this pattern to others.
Very interesting project.
