|Pattern Description: Misses' sleeveless, modern 1960's A-line dress has center font seam, fitting darts and back zipper. Choose scalloped collar, neck bow or round neckline. 2 Main pattern pieces. Simplicity Jiffy sewing pattern. |
Pattern Sizing: available in 6 through 22. I cut a 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved vintage style of this dress. Simplicity really stayed true to its original Jiffy pattern, minus the construction of the facings. The originals had separate neck and sleeve facings, the "modern" version has one continuous piece. LOVED that. It really keeps everything stable.
Dislikes? Not really. All I can say is BEWARE of the not so forgiving ease of this one. I'm normally a 10 which usually ends up being a bit big for me, especially in Simplicity. You may want to size up.
Fabric Used: Cotton. The fabric I chose was too light-weight. Oh well, there's always next summer.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened it (as always) at the waist by 1". It was still way too long, and I ended up chopping 4" off the bottom by the time everything was said and done. No regrets there.
Would you sew it again? Oh, yes and I have plans to. I love the collared version too. I'm thinking Chinese brocade?
Would you recommend it to others? Yes! This is a great project that would be suitable for anyone.
Conclusion: I found a couple of pictures that might be amusing.

Also, any thoughts on the fitting issue in the mid-section? Could that be pulling from the bust, or is the waist just not tight enough?
