Misses' sleeveless raised waistline dress and lined double breasted jacket with shawl collar, princess seams and long sleeves.
Dress in two lengths has a sweetheart neckline, bust darts and optional trim on lined bodice, back zipper closure and a straight skirt with a back walking slit.
I chose to make the short dress with an A-line skirt.
D(4-6-8-10), N(10-12-14), U(16-18-20)
The dress was sewn in size 12, with armholes and side seams above the waist being 10.
I increased the width of the skirt on the sides to give it more ease and flare.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
The dress is not identical to the picture as the bodice was made in a contrast fabric and the straight skirt has been widened to a more A-line shape. The dress has also bow trim and tie ends.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were detailed.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the sweetheart neckline, but I find the skirt to straight for ease in movement. So I decided to flare it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The dress has a contrasting unlined bodice with two decorative bows. It has also tie ends for an adjustable fit.
Neckline and armhole edges were topstitched and the bust darts shortened by 3/4".
The skirt has been widened on the sides and lengthened at hemline before being narrow hemmed. Resulting from this, the dress is 24" wider and 2 1/2" longer at hemline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others
This was the second time I sewed the dress and I have already made a third version of it.
I would still recommend this pattern to others.
