Pattern Description: From the magazine: It's almost a mini dress, sexy yet dressy thanks to the lower sections sewn on at the waist and tie bands caught in the side seams, which draw it in a the waist when tied in the back. Hmmm, in my opinion this would be a VERY mini dress and the ties did not serve a purpose other than decorative as the top is fitted and there is nothing to cinch in .
Pattern Sizing: 36-44
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? I read them over and over to figure out where the project was going. They were not difficult but in true Burda fashion you had to read between the lines.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the curved hemline on the front of this tunic. The back intrigued me but once it was done I was not sure I liked it. Do the ties make it look like an apron? Does the lower back look like a loincloth? I'm not sure yet.
Fabric Used: Embroidered cotton from Mood Fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None BUT if I were to sew it again I would remove some ease in the sleeve cap.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably won't sew it again as it is pretty distinctive. I would recommend it to anyone looking for this style of top.
Conclusion: I finished this top last night and wore it to San Francisco today. I received compliments on my top which made me feel good because I am still not sure how much I like it. I feel good in it and I like the front of it but the back still needs to grow on me.
