|Pattern Description: Classic fit jeans with fitting instructions|
Pattern Sizing: 18W
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were challenging, but clear, and I learned a lot.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the fitting instructions. I am finally able to make pants that don't have extra fabric in the front, making me look like a hamster.
Fabric Used: black denim from fashionfabricclub.com. I guess it is about medium weight for jeans, and has a slight stretch. Sorry the black does not photograph well. Next time I will make indigo or grey or brown. Or all three.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I altered the pattern as instructed, and I got a very good fit. Also, I used flat fell seams on the side seams (instead of pressing the seams open). And I tried a bound button hole, which came out an uneven oval shape, but it works and again, I learned a lot.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes. I don't think I'll ever buy store bought jeans again.
Conclusion: This pattern was wonderful. I am not a very experienced sewer, yet I was able to make real jeans that actually fit! I made a lot of mistakes but I was able to fix them, and thankfully denim is tough.
