|Pattern Description: |
Easy peplum top
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I like to think so.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very clear and easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I have wanted a peplum top for quite a while, but others didn't suit me...peplum was too long, too short, too full. This one was just right.
I used a very nice bright red ponte di roma. In hindsight, I think it was just a bit too heavy. If I make this top again, I will use something slightly lighter weight.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Because I used knit, I was able to omit the zipper and just use a slash opening in the back with two hooks and eyes for closures. The pattern called for the neckline and hem to be finished with bias tape, but the knit allowed me to just overcast the edges and then fold down and stitch. I modified the sleeve length to 3/4. Because I am very short-waisted, I used the size 8 for length-wise dimensions and size 12 for width-wise ones.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I made this top to wear to a college football game, hence the bright red. I think I will make it again in a less assertive color. Yes, I recommend it.
The top was very easy to sew, and I think it is pretty attractive now that I've completed it. I wore it to the game and got several compliments.
