|Pattern Description: skirt is semi fitted. Contour waist and back zipper|
Pattern Sizing: combination 8-16 I made a 10. It runs short. Completed as is, it measures 20 7/8" perfect for me, but I'm 5' 1/2"
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I just love the fit of this skirt. It's not tight or loose, just skims the body I like the contour waist. I think it's a better fit for being short waisted.
Fabric Used: printed stretch velvet from fashion fabrics club leftover from another project. Stretch fabrics aren't recommended, but the velvet wasn't real stretchy so I took a chance.
anti static lining from Joanne Fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: It doesn't call for lining, but I was determined to line it. I made the lining identical as the skirt. Had some concerns because the skirt was stretch velvet (just mildly stretchy) and the lining was woven, however it worked out fine. I hand stitched the lining to the zipper under the zipper tape, then after front and back waist facings were sewn on, I tacked the facings down to the zipper tape per instructions. I also tacked the waist facing at the side seams and the darts. This is my first time lining a garment. The lining didn't create extra bulk on the waist.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Conclusion: It turned out wonderful. It was a lot of work to figure out the lining part, but I'm so glad I made it. I'm eventually going to get a sewing book to rely on for finishing details.
