|Pattern Description: |
Princess seamed, fit and flared scoop neckline dress in two lengths, has back zipper and back tie ends, is long sleeved or sleeveless, with optional side front hemline slit.
I made view A, the sleeveless dress.
I cut size 10, grading out to 14 from the waist to the hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, both dresses look like the picture on the pattern envelope, but I made them without an opening slit at the side front lower edge. Dress #2 has waistline details.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were well illustrated.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like how simple and easy both dresses were sewn up. However, to allow hem to drop, they needed to be hanged overnight before being hemmed.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did not sew in my usual 12. I made the dresses in size 10, with hips being 14.
Both dresses have been shortened at hemline by 8", and ties were sewn to the back 1" higher (Petite adjustment).
I omitted the side front opening slit, but added crossed bias loops to the front of Dress #2. Click Here
For a good fit, both dresses have the underarm seams narrowed by 3/8" (for a total of 3/4" on each side).
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others
I have sewn these sleeveless dresses a while ago to wear during spring and summer. I do not plan on making more of this view in the next few months, but I would recommend this 1994 pattern to others.
I have already made the version with long contrasting sleeves. A review will be written as soon as I have pictures made.
Easy to sew princess seamed dresses.
