coat or jacket with various options
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
i have made several jackets and coats so i didn't need to refer to the directions other than to find the hem allowances, etc. i had a hard time locating where it said how much shorter to cut the lining at the hem (it's 1" fyi), but finally saw it stated in the pattern layout directions. i don't usually read those bits, so it took me a long time to locate the info!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
i always like the variations in the project runway patterns to achieve different looks, and this is no exception. my biggest dislike concerns the lining. a jacket lining should be cut larger than the shell--pleated at CB with additional ease around the shoulder and armscye. i referred to this tutorial in doing so. i simply laid my shell pieces on my lining fabric and eyeballed the extra when i cut.
i used a cotton sateen for the shell to give it a trench jacket look, and lined it with a great animal print for some fun!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
for once, i made up the pattern as writ! the only design change i made was to double topstitch many of the seams for structure and durability.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
my daughter also needs a winter coat so i may end up using the same pattern with a few changes.
this is a super cute pattern, and sewed up very quickly. i highly recommend it!
