The perfect basic tee! The Renfrew Top is a fitted knit top with sleeve and neckline variations. View A has long sleeves and a scoop neckline. View B has short sleeves and a deep V neckline. View C has a dramatic cowl neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. Mix and match any of the sleeves with any of the neckline options for unlimited possibilities!
This is the knit top pattern for people who dislike sewing with knits. Instead of standard machine-stitched hems, the sleeve and body hems are finished with bands. These banded hems are easy to sew and finish the edge in a professional-looking way.
Freshen up your wardrobe this season with a handful of colourful new knit tops! Pattern Sizing:
Sizes: 0-16 (all sizes are included in one pattern!) ; I made an 8 for the upper portion and graded down to a 6 at the hips. I had to take it in a bit during construction to get the desired fit. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
yes What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The only thing I can complain about is that the pattern is printed on flimsy tissue. For $16, I wish it was printed on something that will last longer and is easier-to-see through tracing paper. Fabric Used:
Four-way stretch, cotton/lycra from Joann. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I took in the sleeve and side seams as I went to achieve the desired fit. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, definitely. I would say it has a bit of ease though, which is fine if you want a more blouson look, but I wanted a slim fit for this particular top. Choose fabric and size accordingly. Conclusion:
A great wardrobe builder with many possibilities! Blogged here with more pics!
