|Pattern Description: |
Pattern: Pullover top has back neck slit, button, self-loop, and narrow hem and flounce.
Me: LINED pullover top...Also has gathering at front and back neckline.
8-16, I cut a size 14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very intuitive, 3 piece pattern
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the style of the top, it was exactly what I had in mind when these patterns were released. The gathering is pretty and the flounce is nice BUT it's short. In this pic, I hadn't hemmed it yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to wear the top...I'll probably consider this a muslin and get a nicer fabric to try it again.
I also dislike the way they had you do the elastic casing.
A poly charmeuse that was one of the FIRST pieces of fabric that I purchased when I learned to sew. This before I knew what a pain silky/satiny fabrics could be. I ended starching it before cutting and laying down tissue paper underneath. This made cutting much easier (thanks everyone for that tip!)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did not line the top. I was unsure about my fabric and didn't want to invest that much into this version. Therefore, I ended up using binding on the neck with lackluster results.
1/2" narrow shoulder adjustment. On version #2 I'd lengthen the top.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think I will. I think it can be a workhorse in a wardrobe and it's pretty quick and easy to sew.
I'm not hating the pattern, just unsure of the fabric. I'm going to try it again.
