|Pattern Description: |
Misses' button front, flared and princess seamed dress in two lengths, has a V-neckline with optional collar, is sleeveless or short sleeved.
I made view D, the short sleeveless dress.
I used size 10 and 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, both dresses are similar to the drawing, but they have lace hemline, back tie ends and wider shoulders.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were very easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the overall look of the dresses and how simple and easy it was to sew them up.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I sewed the dresses in size 12, but side seams were 10 from the underarms to the waist.
Both dresses have tie ends and the waist has been shortened by 1" at the shorten/lengthen lines (Petite adjustment).
Buttonholes were respaced and 1/2" buttons were sewn under them instead of the 7/8" called for.
I narrowed the neckline by extending the shoulders towards the neck by 1 1/4".
I also reshaped/curved slightly the upper edge of the centre front opening.
The lower edge of both dresses was overlocked then lace-edged.
- 1" wide flat lace for Dress #1
- 3/4" wide ruffled lace for Dress #2
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others
If I make this pattern again, I will add this time a contrast collar (view B). I am very pleased with the results and the changes I have done to the dresses.
I would recommend this 1995 pattern if you have the chance to lay your hands on it.
Very easy to sew front buttoned dress pattern.
