|Pattern Description: |
A-line bias skirt in two lengths, features bands or contrast bands, has elasticized waist, hand-sewn 1 1/4" width hem, with optional trim and side slits.
I chose to make the version with contrast bands and side hemline slits.
I cut view B pattern pieces and sewed between size S and M.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, all the four skirts look like the drawing.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were detailed and well explained.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the elastic waist and the simplicity of the design.
I love the bands of fabric cut along the grainline that make them so simple to put together.
The length of the garments is also easy to adjust by decreasing or increasing the width of the bands.
However, stitching the front and back sections together at the sides is not an easy step: the bands of fabric have to match each other. Finally, the skirts must be hanged for 24 hours before being hemmed evenly by hand.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I used three different prints of fabric to make these skirts.
I added hemline slits to both sides of the garments to get extra ease.
I widened slightly the waist casing and inserted through it a 3/4" wide elastic instead of the 1/2" indicated.
To embellish, I sewed a lace trim above the lower bands of two of them.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others
I might use this pattern again to get rid of my leftover fabrics from different projects.
I enjoyed making my four skirts and I would recommend this pattern to others.
Time consuming, but very challenging and pleasant sewing projects.
