|Pattern Description: |
'This tank welcomes the first rays of sun! Gathers at the neckline and a slit at the front create a feminine silhouette. The richly embroidered trim on the straps is a delightful eye-catcher.'
36-44. I made size 38.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were ok. There was an error regarding the front gathering at the neckline. The pattern said to gather it in to measure 10cm, but this was far too narrow. I tried on the top and adjusted the gathers to fit.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the relaxed style of the top, but the way the straps are attached is difficult to get looking neat and tidy. It's an easy pattern to trace, having only two pieces.
A border print fabric bought as a remnant. There wasn't quite enough for the top, so I used some blue fabric at the sides.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the top according to the pattern and did not change the length. Rather than use a trim for the straps, I used the fashion fabric and made it into a tube 3cm wide. I embellished it with beads. I also left out the keyhole opening at the front neckline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will probably sew this again, perhaps in the dress version. I might fiddle with the straps next time to improve the finish.
This is a quick and simple top which is very pretty and easy to wear. With a couple of tweaks and the right fabric, it's sure to be a winner.
