|Pattern Description: Misses 1950's Retro Aprons|
Pattern Sizing: S, M, L; I made a medium.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? As best as I could do.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were clear enough that I could eventually figure it out but this is not for beginners. I also read the instructions before I started so I knew what was expected before I got started.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The bias tape was a big pain! I couldn't find 1/4" bias tape in the color I wanted so I used 1/2" bias tape. That was a mistake, the 1/2" looks fine but you can no longer see the scalloped look because I just couldn't get the 1/2" to fold to make the inward points. Also around the tight curves it tends to warp. Also it said it needed 3 packs of bias tape. I bought 4 because I wanted to make a pot holder and wanted to make sure I had enough. It was a good things. I was about 6" too short on the apron! I had to piece the back corners to cover them.
Now to put on the apron you have to tie the back, then crisscross the straps and button them. I bought rooster shaped buttons which was another mistake. They are hard to button when you are facing them, but trying to do it behind your back is near impossible. I buttoned them before trying the apron on after my first attempt of buttoning them behind me.
Fabric Used: Quilters cotton
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Most likely no.
Conclusion: Pretty apron but not worth the effort put into it.
