Misses & Miss Petite Dress or Mini Dress with sleeve variations. Wow. And I thought Burda was cryptic.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it does!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I was asked to sew up a sarong of Indonesian batik for a friend who is working overseas. She wanted to use the batik in a western-style garment that she was comfortable wearing that would showcase the fabric and let the giver of the fabric see how pretty it could be done up in something other than a traditional sarong.
I chose this pattern because of the pleated neckline and the pleated sleeves and the simple darted design. I thought it would make the best "show" of the fabric with as little interruption as possible.
Indonesian drumband batik that came made up as a RTW sarong.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a sever short-waist adjustment, even after "petiting" the pattern by futher shortening the waist by 2 inches. I also reduce the length of the darts by 3 inches to accommodate my friend's high hips.
I finished the seams and facing edges with self bias binding. So pretty on the inside!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have sewn this before for myself when I was first beginning to play around with sewing for myself with my new post-three-kids shape, and was pleasantly surprised at how simple this dress was to alter successfully. I still say the same thing: it's a pretty dress with a lot of sleeve variations and detail/styling suggestions on the envelope. You can see more of the batik dress on my blog.
I love this pattern! Making this up again for my friend reminded me of all the plans I'd originally had for it way back when. It's pushed up to the front of my queue for next summer!
