|Pattern Description: |
A knee length skirt with pockets and a waistband. Variations include gathered, box pleat or tuck pleats with a possible contrast fabric hem. I have written a blog post about this skirt if you would like to see more photos, click here on Nessa's Place.
You can buy this pattern in two size groupings. I cut out the size 22.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the variety of skirt options in this pattern. Be aware that the larger of the sized groups instruct all the fabric cutting out to be on 150cm wide fabric. The fabric I used was not this wide so I added a front seam to the skirt. But this also means that you may need to buy an extra metre of fabric.
I used a quilting cotton, which may explain why the width of my fabric wasn't quite enough.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I needed to add an extra 2 inches to the waist band so that it would fit me comfortably. To accomodate this I simply added an extra 2" when cutting out the waistband. I still cut out the 22 skirt pattern but made all the pleats a little bit narrower by spreading out the 2" across the 12 pleats.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am looking forward to using this pattern many times, as I wear skirts a lot and really like this A-line style on my figure. I would definitely recommend this pattern to anybody who is looking for a quality skirt pattern that could easily be adapted and altered to your own personal tastes.
Even though the fabric is quite bold I think I will get a lot of wear from this skirt. It will go with lots of tops that I already have in my wardrobe and I should be able to wear this for Summer, Spring and Autumn.
