|Pattern Description: MINDI WOVEN SKIRT: This fashionable skirt comes in 2 lengths - mini or knee length. Featuring a shaped waist band and centre front open-end zip, along with optional zipped pockets. This is a great skirt to wear with your Ziggi Biker jacket. |
I made the longer view of the skirt.
Pattern Sizing: Australian sizing from 4 - 30, you order a single size.
I purchased a size 6, based on my 34" hip.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Somewhat, though I made changes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? To be honest, I didn't look at them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the front zipper closure and the fun zipper pockets, though I left the pockets off this version, since the fabric is so busy.
Fabric Used: I used a printed stretch corduroy from my stash.
I used a bold Riri red zipper for the center front zipper.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I increased the waist to match my waist. As a result, I swapped out the curved waistband and substituted a rectangular waistband. (My hip-to-waist ratio is almost 1-1, so I do not need a curved waistband.)
I removed 4" from the hip, and the skirt is still a few inches too big through the hip. This is most likely because the pattern is designed for a regular woven fabric and I used a stretch woven that has quite a bit of stretch.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? YES! I LOVE this skirt. I am already planning another that will feature the zipper pockets.
Conclusion: A great, quick sew. I cut and sewed it up in one evening. More on my blog.
