Misses' Knit dress in maxi & knee length with neckline variations. Design Your Look with 4 bodice and 2 length options.
I've made view A in a short version for Christmas and our Australian summer. This is a great summer dress. Pattern Sizing:
8-18 I made the 8 for a snug fit around the bust Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did. I've already worn this to the markets.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions are a must to make sure this dress works out.
The interfacing on the bands keeps the bust area in place.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Thank you New Look for providing so many useful versions in this pattern.
I did add a bra lining for my own comfort. The bodice fits like a glove now. Fabric Used:
The version combines a stripe knit and solid knit from Minerva Crafts UK. This knit has minimal stretch and was a much better fabric to work with to get the bodice right. My first version showed me I needed more support in the bodice. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I've added a bra lining taken from Fehr Trading's latest activewear top to see how I could build in more support - and it works. I added this lining after making the dress so I need to add it in while making the dress next time around. I sewed the bra lining on after finishing this dress. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. This is an easy dress to make.
If you have this pattern in your stash, getting the bust area to work is the key part of this pattern, as it was for me.
