Pattern Description: Keep your style up-to-date with this illusion bodice dress and full skirt. Yoke can be made in contrast fabric, sheer fabric or lace. Bolero is perfect to keep warm and stylish.
Pattern Sizing: I made a sz 20 with adjustments
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Sort of, I changed a couple of things in the design of it.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were ok.
Fabric Used: A thin cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I used Colette Éclair bodice to adjust the fit (its basically a 1" FBA)
I wanted to copy a dress I had seen so I cut most of the pattern pieces on the bias and also added seam allowances to the centre of the front and back skirt so I could cut them on the bias.
I made the straps adjustable.
Shirred the back and added piping to the front bodice seams.
The back pattern pieces are quite curved near the armholes so I straightened them out.
Added pockets from Simplicity 2588.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Not sure if I would sew it again, how many chevron dresses do you need? I would recommend it to others, the pattern itself is fine and it has a lovely half circle skirt.
Conclusion: This is a copycat dress, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The fabric probably wasn't the best choice, its a bit thin and stiff all at the same time and made sewing the bodice interesting to say the least!
