|I made this dress for Claudie for Christmas.|
The dress on Claudie
Basic shift dress with cut-on sleeves. The pattern is drafted to make in 3 different colours - I just wanted the style so I joined the pattern pieces before cutting it out.
Seemed pretty good, there's a fair amount of ease which suits the relaxed style. I made a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, except for the colour blocking.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very straight forward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It was a blank canvas for the busy fabric I chose.
A loosely woven Missoni cotton that needed to be fully interfaced and lined so it didn't sag.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The only things I did were join the pattern pieces so I didn't colour block and shorten it by quite a bit - I think about 20cm. I could have gone another 10cm to make it a true mini (but Claude is a bit of a prude!) For the hem I used the side of the fabric which came with a zig-zag finish.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
No, I don't think so, only if Claude particularly wanted another one.
A good blank canvas.
