Inspired by the wardrobe for Diane Lane in the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun", as designed by Nicoletta Ercole. Surplice bodice with cut-on-the-bias neckline, tea length circle skirt with left-side invisible zipper. Pattern Sizing:
Medium, 36"-38" Bust. This dress fit me perfectly and I am a size Aus/UK 10-12 or 38 in Burdastyle. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. A full tutorial is available here with pictures and lots of tips for a beautiful finish. The pattern is also available to purchase by clicking on the same link. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The pattern fits together beautifully and I really felt that I had learned new skills after following the tutorial to make this. The instructions also show how to create a lovely interior finish with no raw edges showing. Fabric Used:
Linen in a lovely golden yellow bought in Bali. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the skirt by about 20cm and also opened up the neckline very slightly. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This is a special dress that I will probably sew again. It could also be made as a peplum top. Conclusion:
I am very happy with this dress. I love the style and the colour. The bodice is very flattering with the back darts, bias neckline and little sleeves and the skirt style is lovely. I really enjoyed making this dress and learned new skills along the way.
