Pattern Description: Simplicity's Learn to Sew pattern collection. Misses' skirt in two lengths and tie belt.

Pattern Sizing: 6 - 18

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Sure did! I did view "C".

Were the instructions easy to follow? Except for the zipper, yes.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is my second skirt from this pattern, and I did it much faster with better sewing in general this time. The pattern is quite easy to follow, minus the zipper portion, and I breezed through it. The gathers were much easier doing it a second time, as most things are I suppose! The zipper still baffled me, I tried to do it as the instructions said (last time I didn't) and I got lost half way through. I have never done a lapped zipper so I know that was my problem. I should have read online how to do it, but just decided to wing it and finish. Looks perfectly fine, actually it's probably the best I've sewn (all my sewing was straight, even where the actual zipper pull was at!) so I'm not worried about it.

Fabric Used: Corduroy, it has some stretch to it.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did the body of the skirt in a 14 this time (last time was 16) and it fits much better. Still a little big but I believe that is due to the cord stretching. If this was a non-stretch fabric it would probably be perfect. I did the body of the skirt in a 10 and I still think it's a little too big. That is my personal preference though, as this looks more bubbly than I'd prefer. Kept the length the same, and I think it was fine on me.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think I am going to officially retire my first pattern! I do like both skirts I've made but time to try something else. Would recommend though, especially since it helps understanding how to construct the skirt in more detail. Next time I sew a skirt I feel like I'll be in a better place to understand with less directions.

Conclusion: Great second skirt for me! I'm happy with it!

Congrats on your second skirt, it's a cute skirt! Regarding zippers and zipper tutorials, I would recommend that you try a variety of methods on fabric scraps to increase your comfort level. Take notes on what works and keep your pretty samples for future reference.
