Burda Kids jumpsuit, shirt and shorts. I made the shorts, view C first. Fabrics as chosen by Miss 3. Then I made view C with the short length from view A.
My girl is very big for a 3 year old so I made size 6 first to try out the pattern. She's growing so fast I'm not worried as she'll be able to wear them for ages and they look like they are supposed to be a teensy bit baggy when she's wearing them. I made size 5 next in the blue print and this size is a better fit for her at the moment.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Generally very simple.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the simplicity of the shorts. Super easy to whip up. I'll be making a couple more of these for sure and maybe even a winter pair, for over stockings, out of light corduroy or light denim.
Cotton print and coloured rib knit. The blue fabric was a small cotton kids skirt I got from the op shop and pulled apart.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The waistband strip is sewn at the narrow ends only half way across to allow the elastic to be inserted after it's been folded in half and stitched to the body of the shorts. However, I found it better to leave a small gap which made it easier to hold the waistband in place for sewing to the body.
Depending how stretchy your rib knit is it might need to be shorter. In my blue version I should have made the length of the band a bit shorter I think. It sits just a teensy bit baggy but not really noticeable.
I'm going to sew a couple of these for a boy next so might baste and then adjust width depending how they look. He tried on the size 5 and they seemed a good fit but will retest in the fabric he's chosen.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?. Have made two pairs already and two more lined up. Can see us getting lots of use out of this pattern. Luckily it has two more sizes up as well. I will probably try the shirt seeing as I have the pattern. Not sure about jumpsuits though. Who wants to undo all those buttons when their kidlet needs to go to the loo?
Sweet little shorts that meet our needs and will look good in a range of fabrics.
