|Pattern Description: |
1960s reissue "Jiffy" shift dress with fun collar.
I sewed up a size 14. 3 1/2 inches of ease is in the finished garment so I sewed down a size. It fits perfectly.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I think mine is cuter ;)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't use the instructions, but they would be somewhat easy for a beginner. The instructions involving the facing might be confusing to a beginner, though. I was even a bit confused, ended up doing it the "vintage" way, and ended up doing it wrong (ooops!) Nothing bias tape couldn't fix!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked everything. I LOVE the *cuteness* of it. Get out the white knee socks and Mary Jane shoes!
Cotton. "Michael Miller Plain Jane Lil Daisy Fuchsia"
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I put bias around the armholes because I messed up the inside facing. I didn't use interfacing (I don't like it and it looks better without it, in my opinion). I put a strip of bias down the front because there was an awkward seam there. If I were to make this again with all-over print fabric I would cut the front on the fold.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might. It's cute. It took me about 4 hours to finish.
